Subject | Increasing Graduation Rates |
Goal | I would like to ensure that every student has the opportunity to receive an AVID stole and pin for graduation. |
Description | AVID's mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. This mission is central to the South Fork High School AVID program. Students typically participate in this course for four years, with some beginning as early as middle school, resulting in up to seven years in the program. Notably, 76% of AVID seniors come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and 86% are underrepresented students. Despite these challenges, they consistently outperform their peers in crucial metrics nationwide. I would like to ensure that these students receive the recognition they deserve and can take pride in as they walk across the graduation stage with their stole and pin. |
Benefits | This will benefit these students as they confidently step into their future, whether they choose to pursue college, university, military service, or a career. |
