Goal | Boost Language skills for our multi language learners who are learning the English language. Using these games will help students to interact with and make sense of the words they are learning. |
Description | Incorporate fun, fast-paced games to develop language and vocabulary in our most struggling readers learning English. I will use these games in conjunction with our Story Champs Oral Language Intervention. |
Benefits | When students are simultaneously learning to read in English while learning to speak and understand it, they need additional instruction and support in learning the English vocabulary they are expected to read (Goldenberg, 2021). Oral language is often called a "bedrock" of reading and writing. Students' comprehension of spoken language is a defining factor for their reading comprehension, which our multi language learners need to be successful readers. These games will develop vocabulary and syntax through storytelling. |
